Re: Migrants
Very rapidly, I thought claiming and exercising a right must be done through a proper. structured way. Or in simplier terms people coming from country once under the colonial power they need first to imporove their country and then follow the legarl procedures to claim the assistance they need. It is not much different than legally claiming an allowance rather than making an armed robbery to a tax office.

Yes, of course...Rwy in Sight wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 4:36 pmVery rapidly, I thought claiming and exercising a right must be done through a proper. structured way.
Immigrants claiming their rights.

Re: Migrants
It's a complex problem. As someone who has been through the formal process twice, once for me personally, once for someone else, it's fairly straightforward provided you've got certain pre-qualifications. It's not cheap or fast though. For those who don't have the resources needed to legally get themselves to another country when their own is oppressing them, whether it be the official government or some other group, it's clearly still preferable to bet everything on the unknown than remain in place. Staying put is guaranteed suffering, whereas attempting to change means there's a chance that things might improve.
One solution might be for the countries which are the target of illegal immigration to figure out where people are coming from, go invade those places and attempt to bring them up to the same perceived standard to encourage people to stay put, but I doubt if that would go down well with anyone. Any other good ideas on how to fix the problem in a sustainable manner?

Re: Migrants
Whilst Archbish Justin Oilwellby stands up in the House of Lords and lambasts the HoC and the peasants for wishing to restrict immigration via legislation, here is a reminder of the performance of another country subject to the infamous ECHR shackles;
https://www.migrationwatchuk.org/briefi ... grant-rate
From the article; "Taking the total appeals decisions from 2021, in France of 46,540 appeals, 14,990 resulted in a grant of asylum or other leave equating to 32 per cent of the total. In the UK, of 3,332 appeals made (excluding 564 withdrawn appeals), 1,633 resulted in a grant of asylum or other leave, equating to 49 per cent".
A very revealing summary which punctures the rubber dinghy of the perception that the UK is the bad man of EUrope.
Remember this the next time you/yours are trying to get housing or a GP or dental appointment...

Re: Migrants
Just been on the local news that as ex RAF Swinderby is to be used to accommodate 2000 illegal immigrants then the remains of a Black Labrador buried there during the Second World War are to be transferred to RAF Marham..

Re: Migrants
I think your local news people are a bit geographically challenged. Junior daughter lives at ex-RAF Swinderby; the place is now called Witham St Hughs and the old airfield is now being turned into a sand pit.......Oh! Wonder if that is to make the asylum seekers feel at home.

Ooops, that altruistic gesture ended badly;

Relations with customers very often ends up badly and IIRC she is one of those lambasting the UK authorites for their handling of the illegal invasion by economic travellers.

Re: Migrants
Rishi seems to be doing a pathetic job if this latest from the invasion of England is anything to go by;
Just in case anyone wonders why it’s difficult to get an appointment with a GP, or dental work done, or somewhere to rent as a home or how did the Nottingham knife attacker obtain clearance to enter the country.
It will all end very badly...

Re: Migrants
Don't be such a misery guts, hoards of Poms have been un-invited migrants in countries around the world for the last several centuries. They arrive and immediately plunder, rape and pillage whatever they can lay lay their eyes on, they destroy the local culture and have been known to harbor malice towards the original inhabitants even to the extent of genocide.barkingmad wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 7:39 amJust in case anyone wonders why it’s difficult to get an appointment with a GP, or dental work done, or somewhere to rent as a home or how did the Nottingham knife attacker obtain clearance to enter the country.

More than 100 arrived or rather rescued to Greece in a rather unexpected route between Libya and Italy. Fortunately the top resort of Greece is just around the corner.

Re: Migrants
Now Rushid Sunuk and/or Cruella Braveperson are proposing to use Ascension Island as a Rwanda substitute or to augment that mad idea.
But according to a bod employed on the island it may not be a suitable place for such purposes due to the UK, US and intelligence gathering outfits stationed there already, totalling allegedly about 600 bodies.
Unless of course the illegal migrants selected to go there all have talents in those particular skills so watch this space, or watch some paint dry...

The 500 capacity barge has been evacuated due to Legionella whilst 1600 fresh migrants arrived yesterday.

Re: Migrants
I'm convinced that there is some sort of unwritten agenda here. I understood that we were paying the French significant amounts of money to keep these people on the other side of the channel, so either the French are being perfidious, or the terms of the agreement are different from what we have been told. I love the way some elements of the media are blaming the government for the deaths over the weekend, as though we had somehow invited them, but then failed to take care of them.
Very little seems to be done to try to catch the perpetrators of this misery, yet the tools are there. GCHQ is perfectly able to intercept and translate the phone calls between the smugglers and their victims, yet none has ever been brought to justice.
Apart from the people smugglers themselves, the only other organisation benefitting from this are the hotel groups, especially IHG, whose Crowne Plaza brand hotels are being used in various parts of the country to house them. Small wonder so many are prepared to risk life and limb. There are many people in the UK who currently could not afford one night in a Crowne Plaza, let alone several months.

Fully agree with the above,

The migrants are assisting in the transfer of taxpayer derived funds to corporate pockets.

Re: Migrants
I'm intriqued to read there's a possibility of the French being perfidious. Dear cert. more like. Take our money and run off sniggering at our stupidity is their style.
