Re: Chaos in Germany
A smokescreen to install a dictatorial government perhaps?
Question everything, especially if those in power start telling you how much danger the state is in and how they must take more authority and make more laws to protect you.

the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

As of 23:59 tonight, I'm no longer an anarchist. Just thought I ought to announce that.

No decision yet. Just drifting, politically. If I was back in Germany, the polizei would doubtless have been knocking on my Haustür. Their current government has failed them no less than in the UK.

German hospitals complaining they are running short of medication - Why is Germany facing medication shortages?
Production of key drugs — especially cheaper ones where patents have long expired such as ibuprofen and cough syrups — was shifted to cheaper locations such as China and India over the past decade, but some of these have seen major production or delivery issues.
The production capacity is also not large enough to meet the growing demand for certain medications. Most recently, hospitals have warned that they are facing shortages of medications for children such as fever and cough syrups.

I see that amongst stiff competition, Germany has managed to appoint a Defence Minister who puts Fon Der Lyin in the stupidity shade.

Fireworks drown out German defence minister’s ‘tone-deaf’ new year video
Critics say Christine Lambrecht’s minute-long mobile-phone address, dealing with war in Europe, ‘shamed’ the German nation
Filmed on the streets of Berlin amid chaotic new year’s celebrations, a video address from the German defence minister posted on social media drew criticism on Monday for its tone-deaf message.
Barely audible above the sound of exploding fireworks, Christine Lambrecht reflected on a year ending with “war raging in the middle of Europe”.
The conflict in Ukraine had led to “a lot of special experiences” and the chance for * “many encounters with great and interesting people”, Ms Lambrecht said in the clip posted on her personal Instagram account.
Ms Lambrecht’s new year’s address failed to “hit the right tone” and made the war sound like an “exciting professional experience”, the Tagesspiegel daily wrote.
The minute-long message, filmed on a mobile phone, “shamed” Germany, the Bild daily said.
Ms Lambrecht, a member of German chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democrats, has faced strong criticism in the media for her response to the Russian invasion and Germany’s sluggish support for Ukraine.
* "many encounters with great and interesting people" - before the Russians killed them?

Another mass knifing in Germany, this time on a train by Hamburg, but due to privacy laws neither the perp or the victims can be described. I'd guess terrorism but we'll probably never know. Police keeping schtum.

Virtually all flights into and out of Germany have been cancelled due to industrial action at the airports, will the government demand that they leave the ECHR immediately to stop strikes or is that just the Tory Party
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Torygraph reporting that the shooter was a former member of the church, so it would appear they are, to someone at least.

Re: Chaos in Germany
All German airports affected today by strike, likewise trains and buses. They want higher wages, can't manage on their present pitiful allocation of Deutschmark--surrogates.
"Trains, planes and public transit systems are at a standstill across much of Germany after unions called a one-day strike over salaries in an effort to win inflation-busting raises for their members.
The 24-hour walkout also affected cargo transport by rail and ship, as workers at the country’s ports and waterways joined the walkout.
Many commuters opted to drive, causing delays on the roads, while those who could worked from home.
Unions are seeking a pay increase of at least 10.5% and have dismissed offers from employers of 5% in two stages plus one-off payments."

Re: Chaos in Germany
I see our King has said he wants to strengthen the bonds between Germany and the UK. (Bonds, not bondage, Woody). To what bonds is he referring, and how may they be strengthened, or is it just the usual meaningless blah blah blah?
