Delta makes donation to Tel Aviv airport.

Slightly old news, but just 'broken' - a Delta 777 dropped a significant number of bits of itself on the runway on departure from TLV on 8th January.

Apparantly a ground radar system installed at TLV 'saw' these drop onto the runway (clever), and the aircraft 'did not notice'. For various ?reasons? the controller did not institute a runway inspection (not clever) despite the fact that the radar is supposed to plot the location of the debris. Several aircraft subsequently used the runway before a daylight inspection found the 'bits' - which were not insubstantial!

Good bit of kit there in TLV!

Having spent some time at Dov Airport on various occasions I can confirm that the Israelis don't grasp FOD control, the ramp there is used by business jets ( Challengers, Globals and so on) together with the small military and airline turbo props, there is general waste, building materials, bits that have come adrift and fallen off aircraft, bits of luggage, sand, gravel and old bricks.
