Squeezy Jet whoopsie!

#1 Post by Boac » Thu Dec 31, 2015 9:06 am

I see an Easyjet airbus landed in Pisa on 04R which was notamed closed as a runway. 'Coffee (no biscuits') for the crew back at base will help boost the 2015 accounts (unless it was a management pilot, of course.... ^#(^ )

Pasted from the Av Herald.

If you read the above quoted notam in context it beggars belief how poorly presented it is. There are no less than three and a half A4 sides of notams for Pisa, many of them relating to an operational rwy 04R (the closed rwy). The Italian authorities need to realise that aviation is not a game where we try to trick pilots into making mistakes, or make their jobs harder by providing vital information as some bizarre informational version of Where's Wally. If it's such an important notice to crew then it should be printed in bold and displayed at the top of the list and, moreover, irrelevant and outdated notams should not be printed so that we don't have to scour through a dirge of bureaucratically encrypted babble of Tolstoyan proportions just to find a critical piece of information hidden in the minutiae.
it's good to be bad.

There have been several incidents at Italian airports over the years due to overcrowded airspace and poor information. Even as a passenger trying to get through some of the airports is horrendously complicated and frustrating. Beautiful country but what a mess everything is.
