Does anyone else have the feeling that if and when it is definitely determined that a bomb brought down the Flight, that the Russian Bear will get very annoyed X( (and nasty) with Daesh, something that the West appears most unwilling to do. :-?

I'm thinking in terms of Spetznaz teams and such like. ;)

Sounds like Bali !!! (Australia's version of a cheap and nasty holiday).

Agreed! I have never been to Bali and never ever will!! Heard far too many stories of the ugly bogans, some told by eyewitnesses who were disgusted by the behaviour they witnessed.

That makes two of us.

I see them getting on and off the aircraft at Darwin Airport.

The last thing I want to do on holiday is spend time with a crowd of drunk Aussies !

I like my peace and quiet - and sleep !

Investigators of the Russian plane crash in Egypt are "90 percent sure" the noise heard in the final second of a cockpit recording was an explosion caused by a bomb, a member of the investigation team told Reuters on Sunday.

Asked to explain the remaining 10 percent margin of doubt, the investigator declined to elaborate, but Muqaddam cited other possibilities on Saturday including a fuel explosion, metal fatigue in the plane or lithium batteries overheating.

He said debris was scattered over a 13-km (8-mile) area "which is consistent with an in-flight break-up".

Latest news. no trace of conventional explosives remnants found in bodies or structure. Investigators now looking for exotic "home brewed" explosives.

IMHO we are looking at an old, poorly-maintained aircraft in-flight structural failure. Which will come as a great disappointment to all those half-assed governments who have already come to the opposite conclusion and trumpeted that widely.

- I cannot fault HMG for the actions taken based on the best available evidence at the time.

Should this prove to be an aircraft malfunction rather than an explosive device things are going to get extremely 'interesting'. The silence is, certainly, puzzling.

FWIW:

NVESTIGATORS ANALYZING THE deadly crash of a Russian jet in Egypt uncovered intelligence about 'a two-hour timer,' though it is not clear whether the reference came from intercepted communications between known terrorist operatives, or physical evidence, a source familiar with the investigation tells Fox News.

See Rob the prat has closed down the thread on this subject in TOP. As far as he is concerned there is nothing more to discuss until further evidence comes to light. Gosh I wish I was as powerful and impotent as him ^:)^

Why not try bribing Alison and close down this one here? O:-) (dunno about 'impotent', though :-? )

Actually I took a look this morning and the theories on where to plant a bomb were really quite something.

ISIS Might wish they didn't do this. Putin doesn't have the same restraints as the West.

Neither do the Peshmerga who are taking it to ISIS in a big way up in northern Iraq. Pounding the ***** out of them in order to take back a city. (Forgotten the name of it.)

I always remember how the Russian dealt with the kidnappers (family of) of 4 Russians in Beirut.

Russians were never touched again. That IMHO says something.

I vaguely remember an incident back in the early to mid-80s when some ME thugs took a Russian - then Soviet - hostage and demanded ransom money. The Soviets, via the KGB, sent something different as ransom money. They took their own ME thug hostage, cut off his fingers, and sent them to the hostage takers in the mail. The Soviet hostage was released shortly after.

4 Russians taken, I think most were diplomats.

The Russians found out who was behind it, grabbed a family member of one of them, cut him up and video taped it then sent body parts to them with a message, more to follow.

1 had already been killed, 3 were released the next day.
No Russian ever touched again.

Messages like that work, even verbal one's. I know, I've said a few once or twice and it makes
people think twice about doing something.

The Russian security services have identified the explosives used to bring the aircraft down as such:

The head of the FSB, Aleksandr Bortnikov, said the bomb was a homemade device with the explosive power of one kilogram of TNT, according to the Kremlin. The bomb, Bortnikov told Putin, explained why fragments of the plane were scattered over a large area., the Kremlin website said.

And as AA alluded to: quite a few terrorists should start sleeping with one eye open because Ivan is comin' to get ya.
