We have a superb dog walk field with many dogs running loose. Amazing the number that know me and run up for a treat.

Any one fancy a red and white setter? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... ppies.html
Lovely pups.

They're going to have a problem with genetic diversity if the numbers are that low. We have that sort of issue with our breed (which got down to five dogs after WW1) and there are at least several thousand of them, although only 500 puppies a year in the US.

Scotties are also getting rare as they are bad whelpers.

Now, how about the speed of scent?
Our 2 year old Scottie stays in bed until breakfast is served. Her self made kennel is about 60 feet from the dining area. In the morning I potter around and finally open the fridge, gently place her dish in the scales, weigh out her chicken, add herbs, top off with meal and ever so gently place it on the mat.
She appears like a ghost straight to breakfast. Going outside comes much later.

What will happen to Scotties come devolution? Granted French Bulldogs and Italian Spinone for two are likely to be rarer after 31/12.

I think many Scotties emigrated to the States, our previous one was an immigrant from Ireland.

One of my earliest memories was when our Scottie had her pups.
We kept one of the bitches, and as long as the mother lived, the 'pup' would run ahead and 'hide' then jump out - the mother was never impressed - a sort of "Whatever" moment.

We had fun like that too. Pup was bigger, stronger and would be dominant. The pair racing across the golf course. Pup just drew ahead, looked at mum, and fell into this deep sided icy stream. Mum stopped

This brought back memories for us. We had a red Border Collie and lived close to Blenheim. We could see the estate from our bedroom window. The day the Daily Snail doesn't have the word 'adorable' somewhere in their rag I am going to climb Kilimanjaro in a suit of Armour.

Clearly they only had little dogs in London back then.

Any dog would have difficulty understanding those reactions.

Dog excitedly rings bell after seeing bears in swimming pool

A very excited pup was eager to get outside and meet some unexpected visitors — a family of bears taking a dip in the backyard swimming pool.
Daisy is bell trained and was watching her backyard, whining and tapping her paw to ring her bell over and over again in hopes of being let out.
"I don’t think she can go out right now," Daisy’s owner, Tiffany Kress, said with a laugh on video.
Outside, a mama bear and one cub were in their pool. Another cub ran alongside the edge.
The two cubs eventually were both outside the pool and got into a bit of a scuffle before the mama bear climbed out herself.
"She’s so beautiful," Kress can be heard saying as the giant animal emerged from the water.
Kress, who lives in Sierra Madre, California, said seeing bears in the area is common.

"Since the Bobcat Fire of September 2020, bear sightings have become more frequent as wildlife had to flee," she told Storyful.
Kress said the bear family eventually left their backyard and Daisy could safely be let out again.

Q: We know about the woods, but do bears ***** in pools?

How very true. One of my biggest concerns is that one day whilst trying to step over HER I will lose my balance and crash down on her.
