Funny when a named storm passes oop North and around C16's bailiwick we may get a 20 second mention on the telly but if a bit of a breeze passes south of the Wash then a reporter gets assigned to every resort on the south coast they wind up the recordings of Corporal Jones yelling Don't panic and in general people are reminded that the end is nigh plus it takes precedence on the news. Southern softies.

In all my years aviating I don't think I have ever seen a TAF for a UK airport (Jersey) like this "Tornado or Waterspout....."

Waterspouts not unknown in the UK - I've seen a couple sailing, though not from an aircraft.
Nothing like the ones in the tropics though (I've been caught in the edge of one of those, also sailing).

Official Met Office warnings and reports of tornadoes and waterspouts are rare as hen's teeth, as Boac notes, but, in reality, for the size of its landmass, the UK along with the Netherlands have the highest incidences of reported, albeit weak, EF0 and EF1 tornadoes in the world. Usually dismissed as "mini tornadoes" by the Met illiterate press.

One such weak tornado caused caused over 1 million £'s of damage at a local airfield in the past 4 years. I have security camera footage of that weak, EF1, night tornado hitting helicopters. No warning from the Met Office that evening.

Head of Met Police said he has "no power" to stop Palestine protest march on Remembrance Day. Or the Stop Oil march. No doubt they will go for the softest target and arrest the Football Lads.
