So who will be the POTUS in one years time - Sept 2017?

#1 Post by Alisoncc » Tue Sep 06, 2016 7:35 am

Trump and Clinton are both unusually vulnerable to impeachment.

Tim Kaine and Mike Pence, the Democrat and Republican nominees respectively, have greater significance as their chances of entering the Oval Office are higher than any potential vice president in a generation.

So at this stage we have a choice of four.

I propose Merkel - she will probably be out of a job by then and she could easily do it - and let all those immigrants in.

Trump would have been IF he had slightly tempered his words, taken some advice to tone down his rhetoric
and become more presidential.

But, alas, I think Hillary will get in.

She has less ground to make up from states that will naturally fall her way.

So the people of America have to make a choice between the two main candidates; I feel sorry for them all. ...In one year's time they will regret whoever gets into the Whitehouse ! :D

Well, unless they end up with the potential vice preidents instead :ymdevil:

I think America deserves a dose of Mugabe.

Or, at least Zim deserves a long break from him.

Never mind one year's time! With our Hill creaking at the seams, and manifestly raising questions of her physical condition, are we to see her 'running mate' (or other?) moved into the frame?

If so, is this the key to trapping the Republican voters who don't want either the Trumpet or Mrs Bill? By voting for someone 'more acceptable' in the Democrat line they can salvage the Trump dilemma.

Interesting times now - and, I'm sure, more to come. Quite honestly if she has to be 'casevec'd' from the televised debate she is finished, and the Trumpet will blow the clarion call load and clear.

What is the US opinion on all this, guys and girls?

Boac

They could explain away the coughing fits but with this collapse being caught on video for all to see,
I think you will find people now start to question if she is fit enough.

Sanders would, I think, be an acceptable choice for many on both sides. Maybe Kaine or even Biden?

Out of interest, in the US political election farce, what 'status' does the 'running mate' have if No 1 keels over BEFORE election day? I see one news source saying that if another candidate were to replace her, Kaine would REMAIN as 'running mate'.

No, Sanders would NOT be an acceptable choice. He is a self-described socialist and espouses quite a few Marxist ideals. For this conservative that is a game stopper right there.

Just for arguments sake can the US Congress or anyone else have any impact on the process? Say if Clinton was unable to continue, AND her health issues were traced to her having been knobbled by a Trump aide, with his knowledge. As in someone slipped her a mickey finn. What then?

I still don't understand how the American people have been given such a terrible choice to make. ...personally I would not want to vote for either of them. So, the question I would like to pose to American members of this forum is this; will most people vote for party and hope for the best? And will the non committed just not vote, or vote for the most harmless candidate? :-\

Oh brother, you surely can't be serious? Clinton's health issues are directly traceable to the knock on her noggin she suffered in 2012 after falling down, inexplicably according to eye witness accounts, and the resultant brain lesion she acquired.

That does not relate to the question I posed in any way. I said words to the effect "if Clinton was unable to continue and the cause of her inability was directly traceable to the actions of Trump and his cohorts, could Congress intervene? Or even the current President? Do try and keep up with the rest of the class Rgb.

Something to that effect, Alison?

Did you not? Her health issues were traced back to a Trump aide? Slipping her a mickey finn? Is that not what you wrote?

In essence what avenues are open within the American system of Govt should both contestants be unable to proceed by virtue of health or illegal activity ?

In Australia we have the Queens representative - the Governor General, who can effectively restart the whole process, as can the Queen in the UK.
