Interesting times ahead. Sincerely believe that the UK does far more for Europe than Europe does for the UK, and has done for a long time. The UK should pull out of NATO and withdraw all armed forces now. Then see how they cope with Putin's aggression in Eastern Europe. The Crimea was nothing.

The book is worth reading. After the UK's pullout from the EEC and NATO, the French (who, it is postulated, have always hated us) lead a pack of nations to savage us economically. Chaos sets in on the streets of Britain, resulting in the leader of the USSR summoning the British PM to Moscow and offer (mandatory) help: a de-facto invasion of the UK by the USSR "to restore order", which the UK Prime Minister cannot - and does not - refuse. Hundreds of thousands of Soviet troops pour into the UK, which becomes an off-shore military base for the USSR.
How lucky it is that we have a good friend in Putin today: he would never contemplate such a move. And Obama (perhaps Hilary too) would always come to our aid.
