Oil not Olive
I am getting very confused with contradictory advice on engine oil. We have a plethora of engineering experience and qualifications here. What the hell am I supposed to put in our generator and water pump. Latest advice 10/30. Handbook for generator says 10/30 can't find what we should put in the water pump. If it is any help the OAT here is usually around 30°C during the day.

How old are the engines? 10w is a thin low temp oil I believe and 30 a heavier summer one. With my Merc, getting toward 150k and 15 years I was burning oil at 1ltr/750 miles so I just bought the cheapest I could find in the BX.
The other thing, 2 stroke or 4, you could need a 2 stroke oil.

Engines about one year old. They don't need 2 stroke oil in the fuel but only one spark plug on each. Oil is for the gear box.Pontius Navigator wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:09 amHow old are the engines? 10w is a thin low temp oil I believe and 30 a heavier summer one. Re: Oil not Olive
Go for 10/50 then, second thoughts, gear box oil is different from engine oil.
