So if two members were sent back there will be some challenges ahead.
Re: Oh dear - red faces as well?
I think that is an understatement
From the display side, it might not be worse than the scenario above where an 'opposite' has to drop out anyway but politically....................

Yes, I was thinking that it is pretty bad news for the other guy who has to go. The authorities that be must have understood the ramifications of this dismissal. I would suggest that the offence must be pretty serious.

There's optimism..... Let's describe it as a 'temporary withdrawal' (as BoJo would put it.....)The authorities that be must have understood the ramifications of this dismissal.

Re: Oh dear - red faces as well?
Funnily enough there hasn't been any reference to the Greek press and unfortunately a local contact (you can guess why I like her since I met in mid 90's) has been put out of contact since she mentioned her disagreement about Pfizer and the COVID vaccine licencing.
Needless to say I am curious about what happened...

RiS, if could get yourself into the officer's mess bar you would probably find out. Don't you know any officers from the base?
By the way glad to see Snoopy is back.

Re: Oh dear - red faces as well?
An interesting insight, of which I was unaware, from 'WalesonLine' today
"Why Red Arrows pilots clench their buttocks when they fly over Swansea for the Wales Airshow"
It answers a question I have had for years.............
On a more serious note, the MOD page today still shows 9 happy smiling team members of the 7-ship team, (albeit clenching their......)
Oh to be a fly on the wall in MOD.....
The Red's Facebook page has been a little quiet since 14/5...

Re: Oh dear - red faces as well?
The 9-ship is due to take part on 2/6 in the Jubilee flypast over London. There is a 'rehearsal' over eastern England on 24/5 but I guess they will not be back from Greece by then for that.

Re: Oh dear - red faces as well?
Presumably that can manage a 9 ship getting Red 10 in the formation.
Wonder which Red got bumped, bummer if it's one of the Syncro

Re: Oh dear - red faces as well?
I am trying to see if I have some contacts in the base. Unfortunately my annual visit on the patron saint day of the Air Force in November will be cancelled this year. They just took delivery of the new Rafales and it is going to be too crowded.
So how many are back or they have to take a couple out?
Snoopy is lovely indeed

I should start maybe a thread about our favourite cartoon.
Re: Oh dear - red faces as well?
What is it - about a week now? The MOD still showing 9 pilots for the 7-ship. Going to be arguments over who puts the smoke on etc

Boac, what happens if a pilot goes sick in the middle of the display season? It must happen.
Just had a look at TOP. They are none the wiser.

Re: Oh dear - red faces as well?
I am not aware of it happening. The answer is how long is piece of string/who went crook/how much notice etc etc.ex-A wrote:Boac, what happens if a pilot goes sick in the middle of the display season? It must happen
Re: Oh dear - red faces as well?
You really would think that MOD, who 'announced' a 7-ship for the season, would have noticed 9 pilots? Maybe the idea is that they are going to pick a number out of a hat and fly that slot? (Number 1 not in the draw, I hope)

Re: Oh dear - red faces as well?
I realised I may have a contact within the base a bit closer than I think. Provided there isn't a solid wall in the flight line between pilot and other staff and I would ask the questions correctly.
Re: Oh dear - red faces as well?
Things must be getting a bit tense to put it mildly in Tanagra and Scampton. There can only be about a week to PDA and the first UK display is on 2 June, There has allowance for return transit via Le Touquet and presumably some 'maintenance' on the personnel and aircraft. This IGNORES the published performance at Le Touquet on 28th May. I would assume PDA would be planned in Greece to enable this display and further reduces the time available unless this is either cancelled or declared to be a 'practice'.
The usual plethora of FB and Twatter input is missing too - no piccies of the 7-ship or anything. I fear the wheels on the bus may be a bit loose! I have never seen things so 'tight' before, not even with fatals.
