I guess the rotor thrust is proportional to the helicopter weight.

A conventional helicopter downwash is appled to the centre of the pad and moves outwards, a tilt rotor applies the downwash at the perimeter of the pad and it is able to get under the edge and lift the pad up.

Classic definition of FOD, eh? Luckily, none of it came close to the engines or propellers.

Noisy bleeders, they are. They come over Chez Tango regularly, most recently at about 0130 and woke up many of the residents of the local towns - there was a lot of traffic on the local FB sites the next day!
