If only......
We'd had these things in my day!
How many screw and Dzus fasteners wouldn't we have had to unfasten to remove panels to do an 'inspection'?
Might even buy one as a toy.

DIY endoscopy.

I first encountered this type of camera as a boroscope for inspecting engine cylinders in 1967 or 1968 - though it was not electronic - simply a rigid probe with an illuminated tip and an eyepiece.
Around about the same time we received samples of fibre optic cable from DuPont.
The only application that was envisaged was to inform a driver whether the tail-lamp bulbs were working . . . (!)

I sent off for one of these things a while ago ‘cos I thought it would be a great new toy. It duly arrived; manufactured in China even though it was a US company advertising it. Looked at the instructions; tried to follow the download steps....zip! The fractured Chinglish was appalling. I gave it to our local IT guru and asked him to try and set it up and if he can come and do it on my computer. He says he’s had no luck so far .... and that was 2 weeks ago!
Re: If only......
The most amusing assembly instructions that I encountered illustrated the insertion of a leg into its fixing accompanied by the word 'fcuk' (spelled correctly) - which I suppose was a literal translation of 'screw'.
