Oops! Thanks Karearea. At least I never made that kind of mistake when flying both Avgas and Jet A-1 machines!

From what I can gather from the technical stuff, both baking powder and soda contain the bicarbonates which help the superglue bind better and faster.
I do not know what effect the extra ingredient in baking powder (a mild acid) will have on the bonding.
Baking soda is preferable because it has a longer shelf life and is cheaper.

How to clean washing machine rubber seal/gasket
Recently saw this tip-it works brilliantly. To clean the mildew from rubber door gasket on your washing machine mix together bleach and baking soda into a paste. Spread over affected areas and then cover with cling wrap. Leave for 24 hours. Wipe paste off. Also found that leaving washer door open after a wash until gasket is fully dry stops any further problems.
