Heavy drivers are a bunch of sooks these days.
Looks like a nice airport, don't see what's so important about aeroplanes being able to land. As long as you have lots of duty-free shops, and if they give the cleaners smart uniforms with lots of braid and bars who's to know. Plus it's only a little island, with a couple of decent size tugs they could easily realign it with the prevailing winds.

So, now that the runway is there the pressure is on to allow aeroplanes to land on it. It seems that at least the option of flattening two mountains has been rejected. And, it seems that money is no object either.

Someone is still in the poo for not appreciating the wind shear factor. Next time he or she should read Darwin's journals.

The UK Government will subsidise the operation up to £1.9m in the first year of operation, representing over £36,000 per return flight – or nearly £500 per available seat.
Don't know how much these a/c cost to operate, but that amount must surely cover it all. Free tickets for passengers?
