In the '50s in Scotland you also had to be a "bona fide" traveller to be served a drink. And you had to sign the "bona fide travellers register" which had interesting entries such as "Athens Greece to Athens Missouri"**, and in one that I read "from the cradle to the grave". Oh what fun we had we bloody presbyterians!

Morning folks. Sunny. Thatching continues. Mess continues. They have put up plastic sheeting inside this time so inside is not too bad. Trying to repair flower beds they have wrecked. They are finishing out the back today which is just over a path but then they start in the garden again for the rest. They will probably get shouted at.

The Right arm thrombosis has re-appeared. Summat wrong methinks.
Am at the doc on Monday, no earlier appointment.

SM is off to the doc soon, the antibiotic is not defeating the pseudomonas.

Me to the Chinese junk shop for light bulbs and a dustpan and brush.

Various weather apps stating that the Royal Borough will be having light rain today, mark 1 eyeball say it’s p****ing down, then again the Windsor Horse Show is happening this week and traditionally that’s the wettest week of the season.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

There's an Athens in Georgia, but it's nothing like the real thing:

Of course, if he had gone in to vote without any underwear on, he would have been instantly recognisable to any female staff.

I see Boris's sloping shoulders have such an angle on them now that his torso almost looks like a stick!
Although obviously that's not his fault either. ;)))

My cousin and his then girlfriend drifted into a bar in Ireland on a Sunday.
The bar keeper drifted over and announced "I'm sorry, I can't serve you now, it's Holy Hour"
"Not a problem", they said, understanding.
A few minutes later, polishing a glass, he drifted back "Would ye like a drink while yer waiting?"

Fog came in here this morning, lifting now; very chilly earlier at 2°C, switched on heaters in dining-room and hall as well as heat-pump in living room.
Now 7.5°C going for 12°C.
Not heard as many shotgun blasts as in past years on the first day of shootin' season.

In the North Island, pheasant hunting season generally begins on the first weekend of May and generally lasts until mid-August.

It is the day before Easter here. I had to drive to the office yesterday and a post is prepared on the rant thread about traffic lights used to create traffic jams. Managed to do the weekly food shopping for my parents and spend some time with them.

About to pick up my weekly household stuff too - I didn't have a list ready yesterday.

Afternoon folks. Has been a warm day. Had a power cut. Don't understand why. Battery 100% but inverter says battery low. Started the genny and it seems to have sorted itself out. Genny now off and all stable.
