Shaky land yet again

#1 Post by OFSO » Thu Nov 19, 2015 5:09 pm

Woken at 04:50z this morning by house vibrating lightly and a loud roar. EMSC-CSEM site says a 3.1 'quake, epicentre about eight kms away under the granite plate we also live on. This is maybe, oh I don't know, the tenth or so minor quake since and including the biggie which scared the sh*ts out of everyone just after midnight on October 29th.

So which theory do we subscribe to ? That many small quakes mean a big one less likely ? Or are the small ones a portent of a monster quake heading this way, as started on 23rd February 1427, followed by quakes of March, April and May and ending in the force eight or nine monster quake of 2nd February 1428, known as the terratrèmol de la candelera which killed thousands and is still the largest quake that ever happened in the Pyrenees. Note, to date - that is.
