I put this out on the NextDoor website and got a message right away from a guy who said he does these all the time. Quoted ~$75 for parts and $40 for labor.
Waiting to hear back and set up the repair.
I'm hoping that it just detached from the mechanism and might not require parts, but I won't hold my breath.
One other person replied that her garage charged $250 for the same fix.

And now you know why he sold it ...................
I got the price down to low book value so even with the turbo replacement it will be toward the high end of book value.
The tech at the garage said that he saw a lot of the same problem with this engine, but said he saw very few repeat issues after replacement.
Maybe the manufacturer redesigned the part due to many failures.

Our suitcases, which have been lost since Thursday, were found in Düsseldorf airport yesterday and flown to Heathrow on BA945 in the evening.
At the moment they are still in Heathrow and no arrangement has yet been made to get them to us, we have just been told we should receive them within the next 24 hours.

Once BA hand the cases over to the courier, they deny any responsibility for delivering them X(

Just got back from having D#2's car window repaired.
Someone on the NextDoor site linked me to a specialty shop that does car door windows, locks, switches, etc.
They rebuild the cheap plastic parts by cladding them with metal and guarantee them! $150 out the door.
I texted the guy who quoted $120 parts and labor and he said that his price was for plastic and that he would charge $100 extra for metal. Said the deal I got was a good one. :-bd

Woody,
I think you may have shaken things up yesterday, we've received an email this morning saying the cases will be picked up by the courier in T5 at 10:00 this morning.

I'll wait until they are here before we start dancing because of the lost, found, lost, found series of events so far.

Thanks again Woody, if only I could buy you a beer.

You can never have too many books unless you live with my better half who despises the huge collection I have and warns that the collection upstairs might eventually cause structural problems in the floor. She does have a point mind! =))

I asked a colleague that I’ve known for years, who works in the Problem Bag department to try and chase your claim up, hopefully he’s been successful, still crap service though, don’t know what went wrong in Düsseldorf :ymsick:

Just did a quick mental count of the number of book cases in our home - I think it's six. Two for Mrs H, four for me. If anyone is ever looking for a Christmas or birthday gift for me, they're generally safe buying a book. We also share books across three generations - Granddaughter & D2 & I all like biographies.

Since we seem to have a severe thread drift on here I can recommend this book to everyone :D

Book and rants are synonymous to me now. I am tempted to buy that book that you baited your post with! =))

Why is the name Barry Lloyd so familiar to me? Oh yes, I already own one of his books "Worldwide Experiences of an Aircraft Salesman 1981-94" which I also recommend. Seems to be a very decent chap from his posts here. :-bd

Edited to say - out of stock on Amazon but I shall swallow the bait whole and go for Woody's suggestion. I can hear the rants now as the book arrives at the door.

Purchased from Pen and Sword. Woody do you have a spare room I can rent?

My lips are sealed 🤐, but maybe you could check with a regular poster on here that has technical knowledge.
