fuel consumption seems to work out to 22.8mpg which seems a bit mere, but perhaps the tank hadn't been entirely filled the previous time. Mostly town driving, one 50km round trip at highway speed.
What meaning are you attaching to 'mere'?

22.8mpg seems low - unless we are talking about a large v8 engine.

Mere - slight, low.
2L engine.
Suspect combination of frequent stops and starts around town, and probably tank not entirely full last time.
Will see what it's like next time.

. Morning folks. Lots of great rain last night clearing up now. Town day terrible drive with animals all over the place. Mrs Ex-Ascot driving. I still can't drive don't know how long this will. Ah well she didn't kill us and I get to have in-flight refreshment. Guy coming to hopefully fix pool plumbing this afternoon.

Of course RiS we should have been there to give our support to the current mayor.
I hope you assume driving duties soon Ex-A.

National Elections for now. Municipal elections next year.

OK copied. We may make it. not allowed to vote in National elections. Not that we would want to.
Re. driving I am not that bothered. I drive short distances like to the pub but any further is difficult

The staff in the booze shop again were brilliant today. they did everything for me. They respect older folk. Younger than me they used to call me father which is a great compliment. Problem is now I am doddering around they call me grandfather. :-o

We went up onto Dartmoor yesterday, had lunch and then went for a rugged walk to Wistman's wood, 400 metres above sea level, only about five km walking but needed lots of concentration because in some places the gaps between the boulders were deep enough to snap your leg, feeling a bit achy today.

Can't grumble at the consistently good NHS in our locality. 1420 appointment for a knee xray at Stracathro Hospital near Brechin, walked up to the reception desk at 1415, didn't even get a chance to sit down as I was taken straight away. Two xrays and out of there by 1425. Brilliant. :-bd

A warmish day so got 4.2 miles per kWh, best I've seen so far. So in 36 miles the car used 8.57kW. At the Octopus home offpeak charging rate of 7.5p per kWh the whole trip cost £0.64 in fuel.

Excellent treatment at private prostate hospital. New tests and scan analysis, back next week to discuss. Told professor surgeon of my German doctor's negative prognosis. He shook his head. "Here, we cure people... " Over 99% success rate.

At least the lesion was in an area easy to reach. Had one on my ear many years ago. Likewise! Hope negative result..
Thank you, OFSO, results yesterday: as I expected, not sinister yet, just will need treatment. No big deal.

Good morning on a very dull overcast and drizzly day, 8.9°C expecting 10°C; water dribbling from spouting on neighbour's shed where downpipe always becomes disconnected.
Can hear the Council sucker-truck somewhere nearby clearing up leaves from gutters as more rain expected.

Lawdy, lawdy, I remarked to my DD, what can I have been watching that the internet thinks I need adverts for heated motorcycle clothing? She reminded me that the previous day she had been here talking about her heated clothing for watching hockey.
They're listening... B-)

Morning folks, nice day. Having a very bad admin day. Two things to do. One achieved after 2 hours and that was just a bank transfer. They didn't send the requested payment confirmation which I need to send on to a 3rd party. Other thing was company annual return but the accountants sent the forms to Mrs Ex-Ascot and she can't get e-mails then they sent to wrong ones to me. Start again Monday.

17 BWP to the GBP today. We bought our house at 12 :((

It's Victoria Day in my Province.

It's cottage opening weekend, as it's the first weekend after the expected Last Frost day. Most cottages don't have plumbing that can be allowed to freeze. Last frost day appears to have been yesterday this year for most places, though there's an advisory this morning. I shall park the snowblower and get out the lawn tractor.
Whilst lobster is ridiculously expensive elsewhere, it's practically peasant food here, at least for anyone who knows anyone in the fishing industry, and many do. The prisoners in the jail 50 years ago used to complain when they got fed it every day.
One of the nice things here is that the supermarkets, whilst ripping everyone else off the rest of the year, do put huge discounts on traditional dishes for holidays. A one pound quality steak (striploin, prime rib) and a lobster tail to bung on the barbie will still cost under C$15 this weekend.
There's a big free turkey giveaway for Thanksgiving and Christmas, for those who can't manage that, and free cooked dinners for those who can't cook. One can be pretty sure everyone is able to eat well on the holidays here.

I'm sipping my first coffee and waiting for the dawn. Then, like most others, I'll have a gentle weekend of lawn mowing, yard tidying, planting, and assorted DIY (gutter painting for me) in between big meals.

Because the Gulf of St Lawrence is still nearly ice cold, we don't get a proper Spring on the Island, the weather just bounces between winter and summer on an hourly basis, but with a cold wind mostly. Then this weekend, bingo! It's summer!
The upside to no Spring is a perfect long, slow, warm Fall, which I love.

A USAF Stratotanker has just passed overhead at 12,000, descending north to Mildenhall, threading through and above the airliners departing eastward from LHR.
