As I had the van checked before we went on our trip, I had a record of the mileage before we left. 7100 miles in 22 days. When you allow for the fact that there were five days in the middle of that where we did about 20 miles total, driving between hotel and show venue, that's a lot of driving.

Did you manage any sightseeing along the way?
Anything interesting like the world's largest ball of twine or something similar? :-?

We visited my wife's hometown, deliberately detoured into Michigan so we could say we've been there, went to Niagara Falls, Punxsutawney (think groundhogs) and stopped off to see a few friends too.

Bloody hell the 40km into town stresses me.

Went to Niagra once. Was it a good flow? Did you go over in a barrel?

Went to Niagra once,too.
30 hour overnight in Buffalo, so all day to do the falls.
Was able to walk across the pedestrian bridge to the Canadian side. Much nicer environs over there :-bd , plus a casino which I didn't visit.
My only souvenir from my visit was the pain from a kidney stone which made its presence known it the middle of the night. :ymsick:
Called Crew Scheduling and informed them that I wouldn't be able to do the flight later that morning and went to the hotel front desk and asked for a ride to the ER.
The hotel security guard drove me and after a few minutes drive I asked him where he was taking me.
He told me that he was taking me to the hospital that I wanted to go to, not necessarily the closest one.
Saturday late night in the downtown hospital's ER was apparently a very lively place. Glad that man knew what was going on. ^:)^
I got an extra night in Buffalo and was loaded up on painkillers to get me through a two leg trip home to have my own urologist deal with the stones. Yes, plural. [-X

Arrived in Niagara one afternoon and the temperature was in the seventies and very pleasant. The next morning the wind had changed it was snow flurries and the temp was in the twenties, we went down to the falls and sat in the car watching a group of Japanese in suits crouching into the wind and spray taking photographs of the falls as their suits froze on them, such dedication, we didn't get out of the car heater going maximum!

It was icy cold with a lot of wind this time around. We walked the dogs down to the falls, took a few pictures, then decided to head off again. Last time we walked over to the Canadian side and did stuff there. Couldn't go on the boat because it was early April and they'd only just put them back in the water and weren't taking tourists out. It's worth being there when it gets dark, because they play lights onto the American Falls and that's fun to see. Despite it being a month later, I think it was colder this time. There's a walkway down near the base of the Bridal Falls which looked as though it had suffered some unplanned destructuring. I wonder if it got hit by falling icebergs.

I suspect the flow was down, simply because it is out of the tourist season and we were there after 5pm (free parking though, which was good). Didn't go over in a barrel either, I had the dogs along.

Fog out our way this morning would do London proud, finally cleared about 11.15 am, and the weather is now as Hydro reports.

Clear skies, yet another yellow alert for high winds. Clearing the villa today for a long absence.

Good luck! All getting older, well mostly all. Life is full of medical appointments. Travelling to other places, what medication to take...then filling out claims forms...

No silence of the lambs here.

#13453 Post by OneHungLow » Tue May 16, 2023 7:27 am

Sitting here on a beautiful spring morning listening to the chattering of the lambs, with Larold, the English lamb, being given a sympathetic ear by Lambski, the Polish lamb. Larold was telling Lambski about the shocking time our neighbour's cheeky French Bulldog pup Doug snuck into our house and seized him in his fangs and tried to make off with him as a new dog toy. Fortunately the brave Larold was saved by my better half. =))

Great day out flying yesterday and looking forward to some more of the same next week.

Following on the hospital theme I have to take my better half in for a CAT scan this afternoon.

Best wishes to all those who are ailing. Getter better folks, because...

Good morning all,

22c steadily rising, 25c on the seaweed.

Looks to turn from tomorrow evening, then four bleak days. Not great for our guest first time for five years.

SM is having a washing day.

Got a windows update this morning, thought they were Thursday, I await the surprises.
