I am 'recovering' from several days of upper respiratory distress (sore throat, sneezing, rattling cough) alleviated by proprietary (pharmacy) linctuses (lintusees?).

That sounds miserable. You get well soon too, G-CPTN.

Hope you're feeling better soon, G-CPTN. Does the linctus include rum?
llondel, I've never thought of taking a dog to a flea market. Did he sell any, or was he buying.

I'm still coughing from cold two weeks ago. Tablets called "Bronco Stop" work really well. (Not that there are many Broncos in Teddington).

We have had a problem for two months with horizontal lines moving up on the CCTV system. I have been to their office, I have phoned numerous times and they have failed to turn up twice. I e-mailed head office in Gabs on Saturday and asked if this is their usual standard of after sales service. I also pointed out that we have recommended them to two people now and will have to withdraw the referrals. There is a chap here now.

New power supply required. Then he left with our keys. Fortunately he had only gone about 5 kms and we had an Orange signal. This morning we had no internet and no signal to report it.

AM 14

I was congratulating myself, then remembered I'd already done the morning one last night!
That explains how I got the Hard Word as well.
Seems very quiet round here today, little traffic, no ambulances (we live close to the main drag to the local hospital), the only phone call was from what appeared to be mobile to my land line telling me my bank had just received requests for two payments including one to Amazon for £300 and one for £900 to... at which point I put the phone down.

Sorry to hear of Mrs Ex-A's attack of the Lurgi, hope she soon recovers.
As to septic tanks - in theory they should never need emptying unless something serious goes wrong - like pouring bleach down the drain which kills off all the bacteria. We moved here 20 years ago and the septic tank just sits there doing its thing, no nasty smells or flies. Read all about it!

Visited the nearby indoor climbing gym. We did both bouldering and some autobelay climbing. It's amazing how tiring it is.
Big Rock Hub in Kingston, Milton Keynes.
Then we feasted on some Turkish tucker at a nearby restaurant.

Septic tanks do need the "sludge" removing every so often. Somewhere between 3-10 years, depending on the size of the tank and the size of the current household.
I got mine done last year. There's one pump wagon locally that has a neatly sign-written warning notice on the side saying "Caution: May contain political promises!"

Woken at midnight last night by Mrs Hydro in agony when she got up to go to the loo. Couldn't put any weight on her right knee. Called ambulance who, with great difficulty, got her downstairs and into the ambulance. Waited a couple of hours at the hospital before going home to try to get some sleep. Visited this morning, and she has had a bleed on her knee as a consequence of blood thinners she has to take. Knee drained, and shee feels much better. They are going to keep her there for a couple of days. Think I'll have a bit of lunch and a nap.

When I lived in Somerset we had an underground tank for our sewage.
The local farmer would come and pump out the effluent into his tanker and then discharge it onto the land surrounding the nearby reservoir (and fishing lake).
After our tank was emptied I was able to enter it via the manhole.
Our tank was a concrete structure about 6 metres by 10 metres.

Sorry to hear that Hydro. Mrs OFSOs knee infection last August came on so fast, one minute to the next, excruciating pain, could not put foot in the floor, so we know what it's like. In our case I ordered a wheelchair from Amazon to bridge the time to knee surgery - hope it's not so for you.
