The yachtsmen (and women) revolution thread

#1 Post by TheGreenAnger » Mon Sep 26, 2022 11:24 pm

My necessaries are embark'd: farewell. Adieu! I have too grieved a heart to take a tedious leave.

But for all of those who have sailed the islands, I would rather talk of navigation, and of anchorages.

Am I a communist? Not at all.

Well, perhaps a bit...

G~Man. it was the same thing that made we want to be pilot.

I learned to sail on a dam in the old Transvaal (some 450 miles from the sea)...

Seems like it was a previous life when we crossed the blue Pacific on a 32" sloop (upwind) . Those were the days.
Been in data comm since we formed the bits individually with a Morse key.

Found it a bit worrisome watching that first prep video. Going up the mast on one halyard, with a perfectly good second halyard right next to it not being used as a safety rope.

Had a 25' wooden Folkboat as my first yacht.

Nice---I have a Beneteau 343, a Hunter 26.5 and a McGregor hybrid....

Interesting that very often they're running on three legs, not four. I guess that's based on wind pressure holding up one corner of the boat so the foil isn't needed and gets hauled out to reduce the drag.
