One has mowed. Beer and bath to follow. One has to be clean for the ecumenical gathering on the morrow.

They should do all right where you are - the dahlia is the national flower of Mexico.

I also bought some seeds from the well known German franchise shop, threw them down on the bit of scrubland on our mountain opposite my house. Lovely flowers came up: so lovely that a young Spanish couple stopped and picked 'em all.

I like this place.

I flogged through hours and hours of PPL training, when not away at work, and all those windows coincided with weather which was usually a bit extreme.

My first approach with the runway ahead and not out of the side window was a bit disturbing.

I am now apparently the holder of a CPL. Except my medical was cancelled ages ago. :ymsigh:

Well done, you Alison person, a fine effort.

Hello all: Having a bit of a break from the furniture moving. It's going well, but we are beginning to flag. I'm toying with having a glass of something alcofrolic, perhaps something red. :-?

What is there not to love about Windows 10?
In had W10 on a nice new HP desktop computer with Linux (Ubuntu) in a dual boot configuration. Everything went well and I even remembered to make a Windows recovery disk.

Eventually came the day when Linux would boot but be unable to run Windows so full of confidence I reached for the recovery disk. Huh, useless! I think I will have to reformat the HDD and install Ubuntu again forgetting all about Winderz on this PC.

I got into the cockpit of our Mig-17 today and got out wondering how they got that wide angle periscope to work so well?

Cabbages

#317 Post by Ex-Ascot » Sun Aug 30, 2015 4:27 am

Morning folks. Got a bit fooled by the bright moon at 04.45 thought it was dawn and got up. Now on second cup of tea by the pool and the 'real' sun is rising.

Put some cabbage seeds in a week ago and they are already making an appearance. I put two in each hole in the tray and they all seem to be taking. Never grown cabbages before but they are one of the popular local veggies. Street vendors sit shredding them and sell little plastic bags full. A little job for me in a few months maybe :D

I ferment cabbage, turning it into sauerkraut. Massively full of probiotics.

Alison

Article in the paper about preserving fruit and veg like they used to, starlising jars, rubber seals, old style closures.
It seems modern chefs have suddenly found out how good the stuff is.

You mean like this. Green and purple cabbage after three weeks fermentation.

And it tastes fantastic.
