Copy/paste pics

#1 Post by probes » Sat Jun 22, 2024 10:39 am

Have I understood correctly (or doing something wrong) that it's not possible to use the 'cutting tool' (or similar) and paste the clip to the post? Any forum peculiarity to prevent this?
(which would be very convenient without saving the pics somewhere and then attachment etc)

Not too sure what you mean, but the 'cutting tool' merely places a 'cutting' on your machine which you then need to place on site as an attachment. If you could give me an example of what you want to do it would help.

Uh, clipping tool or a 'clipper' or whatever it's called, you 'snip' a section of whatever's on the screen, don't have to save it (for an attachment) and can paste Ctr+V in emails (MSoffice), Word etc? I haven't been able to find a way for that with my posts. Maybe I haven't ticked some box somewhere?

P.S this one

As far as I can see the file format for 'snips' is either a graphic one or an MHTML one. If you paste a 'text 'snip' into Word (or a web site) it is pasted as an image. Thus I fear you will need to save the snipped image and post it as an attachment.

I don't think cut-and-paste works, I always have to save it locally and upload a copy.

Direct image posting is a rarity. As far as I know there are one or two 'user forums' that allow direct posting of images from a user's machine, using, I think, a paid 'service' from an image processing programme like 'imgur'. Text-based software is the norm. I think PHPBB allows direct upload for avatars but not for general posting. I cannot see the problem with just saving and attaching - it takes 30 seconds?

It is some years since I was involved with TOP, but then it would not accept direct image placement, only images stored ('attached') in its database which is how O-N works. Anyone tried recently?

ok (sigh).
Correct - one gets so used to everything taking 'a second'... :D. (30 would be ages!)
Anyway, at least I know now it's not me not knowing something :). (hoping it's not 'anything!)
