Re: New Domain Name for Ppruned.org
I feel that people would get a better idea of what the new format would be like if the posts from this site were transposed. At the moment it looks good to me, but a bit sterile to get a real feel.
RAF 32 Sqn B Flt ; Twin Squirrels.
Re: New Domain Name for Ppruned.org
Rather at a loss to understand that only 14 people out of 173 registered users have bothered to spend half a second making a selection of new name.
Re: New Domain Name for Ppruned.org
Looking at the number of 'New Posts' that follow any post (like yours) on this thread, OM, it is sadly apparent that very, very few actually care but are happy to just post away on this and that.
The awakening could be quite rude.

I suspect that those who haven't posted just don't have a strong view, rather than not caring about what happens.
Re: New Domain Name for Ppruned.org
Aah - that's fine, but will they care when...............?

Re: New Domain Name for Ppruned.org
I think anyone searching for an aviation forum on the internet would obviously type in 'aviation forum' so those two words are vital, e.g.
Aviation gossip forum
Aviation chat forum
Aviation talk forum ..........etc etc.

it's good to be bad.

Re: New Domain Name for Ppruned.org
I've not responded on this thread 'cos I had posted on the attracting new members one. Agree with limeygal and others i.e why not get on with it and see what happens? It would be a great shame if all Alison's hard work was for nought. Oh, there's the expense too. May we contribute to the costs accrued?

I was apt to vote but I know that Alisoncc knows what she prefers and, you know, that is good enough for a nincomoop like me.
Keep flying and make aviation yours.

Re: New Domain Name for Ppruned.org
Sorry guys, but it has been an awfullly long time since search results had anything to do with domain names. Even meta tags have little relevance now. Search engines do their indexing on perceived content, often via machine-readable Site Maps, which we will have.
A "snappy" title is more lilkely to get you noticed amongst the noise of all the wannabees hoping to snare intelligent, technology-aware contributors that would represent our perceived demographic.
I believe that "Ops-normal" is such a title, and would defnitely get my attention in the seventy eight million potential responses to a Google search on "aviation & forum". And for those who don't like hyphens I've registered http://www.OpsNormal.org which will also point to our site.

The curse of the committee...
If I were Alison I'd just get on with it, and if anybody bleats suggest they take over the running of the board

http://www.opsnormal.org it is then and I think it's fine. Alison you have put a lot of time and effort into this site and you should be very proud of it and it's success, getting away from the historic prunne association is imo a very good idea.
it's good to be bad.
