Realised that I have just posted four photographs of wildlife on Trabb this morning. We all live in such diverse parts of the world. It would be interesting to share personal photographs of nature. And no, Capt Slasher, not that kind of nature. 'Mammals' Capt, reptiles. ornithology, fish, flowers, trees etc.

This one, just chosen at random, taken in the Delta a few years ago.

That hippo doesn't look very happy Cape. It has got mother in law written all over it's face. (not your's of course). Nice one of your phone ringing tone.

That hippo looks like my junior school French teacher in a good mood.

I have got a whole series of photos of this incident. He wanted to bonk but she said no. The look on his face is classic. 'Oh please, I will be gentle with you and wear a condom'. We have been following this pride of lions for over ten years.

Her: "You wanna bonk me AGAIN? Well listen here pal you're not getting any till you get off your lazy arse and haul me back a bloody gazelle for dinner. Got it?"

He was away for two hours. When he came back he said he had done his best but didn't see a single gazelle.

No nookies for him then.

This is an interesting one. The carcass is of a fully grown male hippo, who was killed in a fight with another male, so you can appreciate the size of the croc. The croc was sharing lunch with a large male lion who was eating from the land side to the left. Will not post that photo it is all blood and guts. Whenever the lion approached the croc backed off. The stench was appalling.

Just back garden stuff. A British fox or badger comes under this category.

Speaking of British. They have changed the names of many animals and birds here recently that have been named after explorers who discovered them. PC crap. Can't have them named after colonials. Some birds names have changed so that the name is common throughout Southern Africa. We refuse to conform but of course the guides have to. Below are Burchell's Zebras. Plains Zebras for the PC inclined. Burchell was British. He started off going to St. Helena. His fiance sailed out to join him but the Captain of the ship ended up bonking her. Someone needs to give the rhino a pink nose job. Apparently staining the horns bright pink makes them a lot less attractive to poachers.

No wonder they are going extinct. What self-respecting female rhino is going to mate with a male with a pink horn for god's sake. Please allow them some dignity.

There is a big debate about injecting rhino horns with cyanide. It will not affect them but will the purchaser of ground rhino horn in China. I say go for it.
