Charging USB devices

I have two ageing Amazon Fire tablets which are getting a bit 'tetchy' about being charged. I am using an increasing number of mains devices WITH USB outlets and am wondering if perhaps some of the outputs might not be a 'clean' as desired. Does anyone know of potential damage to devices from such?

A weak spot on the Kindles is the socket rather than the charging port. Another feature of the twin USB sockets on the mains socket is the current is shared between the USB sockets and your Kindle may not get the full current.

I assume, I guess, that none of our resident tech gurus know about potential damage from these chargers? I cannot find anything on't 'net.

Some of my aftermarket chargers have 1A outlet for phones and 2A for tablets.
Don't know the effects of 1A vs. 2A on devices. :-?

Some of the dodgy chargers are not capable of providing the full power required and don't comply with safety requirements either. Can't comment on the ones built into mains power strips but here's a video showing one example of a fake charger.

"Dodgy USB charger teardown" will produce a few more.

Ilondel, the Op is talking of mains wall sockets that include USB sockets too. These are becoming standard fit in new houses and hotels. Two outlets are common but you can find some single and I have a triple as well.

The hotel I'm currently in in London has wall power sockets of every type plus USB charger sockets. So why did I bother to fabricate and bring a euro socket strip and five chargers?

Because if you hadn't, they wouldn't have!
