Mosquito Bites

Get thee down to the "de Havilland Aircraft Museum and Heritage Centre" ( formerly known as The Mosquito Museum)
We need the money.

Seriously, just off the M25 at junction 22 for London Colney. Lots of nostalgia and history, Salisbury Hall is where the DH98 Mosquito was designed and the prototypes were built. The Airspeed Horsa glider too. We have the first prototype in the final stages of restoration ready for the 75th anniversary of its first flight in November 1940 and there are also complete examples of the B35 and F6 too! Not mention the only Comet 1 fuselage (square window version) a Sea Vixen, the first DH125 and examples of various other DH aircraft - Heron, Dove, Chipmunk, Vampire etc.

The museum is in the final stages of raising money to build a larger hangar to get the outdoor exhibits under cover. Come on down for a bit of real aviation history and lots of heritage.

Is the museum open on weekdays? Pity the old airfield isn't extant, one could bimble down by air for a day of happy rubbernecking.

Lovely informal pics showing work in progress!
Interesting to see the dh24 autogyro, here's another pic:
