Your starter:
I flew one it once as SLF, a short leg from Copenhagen (Katsrup) to Sonderburg
VFW614
And I'm pretty sure that it was labeled Dan Air!!

Re: I did fly in.........
I don't remember Dan Air having any Ian but I could be wrong, the only one I ever saw was a comms aircraft at Filton it was a regular visitor in the early 70's.
it's good to be bad.

This is DH89A Rapide 6 Registration G-AGSH over Exmouth in July 1995, a jolly provided by the owner, my boss, he also provided me with a back seat aerobatic trip in a Pitts Special ( no I wasn't sick) and also a pretty good hour or so over the west country (mainly upside down) in the right hand seat of his Jet Provost.

Re: I did fly in.........
I've flown a couple of the classic Lockheeds, this very one in fact, back before it had the paint removed.
And the L-12. Beautiful machine.

Re: I did fly in.........
I think the second L-12 is in the museum in Ottawa, but in the "secondary" hangar, which is used more like storage. Along with the DC-9 which was stripped off everything non-essential so it could land on the dirt strip next to the museum.
Because they stand on the wall and say "nothing's gonna hurt you tonight, not on my watch".

Somewhere I have the photos. Lufthansa did a competition of some kind and I won a flight in the JU-52, it was probably about 1992. I believe she is still flying. SAA had one but I suspect that like many things in South Africa now, 'eet ees broken sah'.

Wodder's,
Thanks for that, Giggling 'VFW614' fails to find Dan Air, but even after all these years I still believe that was the airline I flew with.
Edited to add:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danair
It was a company business trip and the Copenhagen office booked the ticket and it wasn't until I arrived at the airport that I was handed my ticket.

That's Martin Caidin's old airplane. I saw her on her way through here on the transat flight when Lufthansa bought her off him.

Time to say farewell to the 737

After 35 years in service with BA, the last Boeing 737 will operate from Gatwick to Turin today.
The retirement of the fleet was marked by a special charity farewell flight for Flying Start. Colleagues from across the company, as well as representatives from some of BA's suppliers, took part in the flight which flew from Gatwick along the south coast, taking in views of the Isle of Wight, Southampton, Portsmouth and Brighton.
Olympic gold medallist Sally Gunnell joined the celebrations on board, collecting donations for Flying Start which has so far raised over £2,500.
Today, the 737 makes its final departure from Gatwick airport to Turin, BA2578, and the return service, BA2579, will be the last time customers fly on a British Airways 737.
The final return flight will be flown by an all-female pilot team, Captain Christine Scott and First Officer Gillian Tunley. It will also be Captain Scott's last flight, as she will be retiring after today's trip as well. Captain Scott, who lives in Lingfield, near Gatwick Airport, began her flying career with British Airways on the 737 in 1996 before becoming a Captain in 2003.
Daddy W42 flew them at LHR from 1980 to 1991, mainly on the IGS, but that's lots of other stories

Re: I did fly in.........
It depends a little on how you define 'BA'.
'BA' are flying 737's in South Africa and have new a/c on order!
They are even used on 'International' routes, Joburg to Mauritius for example.

Re: I did fly in.........
Good point, but I copied that from the BA staff Internet, so I think we can safely say mainline.
Ps I've flown Comair a few times always been fine.

Re: I did fly in.........
One oddity about the BA/Comair deal, when it started it was the only time a B727 flew in BA livery.
I believe that BA or maybe IAG, actually has a shareholding in Comair today.

Re: I did fly in.........
Is that the same Comair that operated a couple of DC3's out of Rand airport, to Skukuza - Kruger National park, in the early seventies? Worked for them briefly when I first arrived at Rand. Funny mob. Trying to remember the name of their Chief Eng. He refused to acept my resignation, reckoned that under Krunchie law - master servant relationship existed and I needed his permission to even offer my resignation. Funny man, had a nice house in Bedfordview though. That's when it was a very swishy suburb.
