Re: What Song Is Your Current Soundtrack?

As a regular, we were made aware that the Animals were to play a remote village hall in North Northumberland (difficult to believe as that was). The clientele was made up of local agricultural workers and their molls and squaddies from the nearby army camp. There were frequent scuffles as the local...

As a teenager I was a regular at the Club a Gogo in Newcastle where the Animals (morphed from the Alan Price (Rhythm and Blues) Combo) were resident.

Re: What Song Is Your Current Soundtrack?

To the gaffer... thank you for allowing me back.... Good to be able to post one track here at least. There is a well-meaning message in this one. I love music, the number 6 is green to me, a form of brain damage maybe. I am good at mathematics, and even if I am mad, I don't mean any harm here. Give ...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Popped into town to pick up my new prescription long distance spectacles which adorn my "strange unnatural beauty" rather well I delude myself.

Sitting lunching by myself with that pleasant frisson of one who is playing hookey on a school day! Weathet is temperate as is all else at the moment.

Re: The World's on Fire...

Yesterday was quite a revelation to me given that the highest local temperature, of 39 degrees Celsius, was one, the like of which I had hitherto only experienced in Southern African climes in harsh places like Upington, Riemvasmaak and Vioolsdrift (the last place in that list holding the SA record ...

Re: What book are you currently reading?

as OPS at Cunard Eagle categorized the approach as simple! Indeed it was, a classic procedural NDB/ILS, often flown a part of a basic I/R. Difficult to work out why it should have gone wrong, especially since the localiser should have rushed across the instrument panel at some point. Looking at the...

Re: What book are you currently reading?

From ASN: " The Cunard Eagle Vickers Viking took off from London at 13:29 GMT on a charter flight to Stavanger, Norway. Nearing Stavanger, the flight was given descent instructions in preparation for an ILS approach. The ILS runway at Sola Airport had a magnetic bearing of 185°. The outer marker wa...

GA/GG Do we presume pilot error? I suspect so Ex-A. The official report said the following "a deviation from the prescribed flight path for reasons unknown". The fight from Croydon was running late due to magneto issues on one of the engines during the pre-take off checks and when they departed som...

The Lanfranc Boys by Roslind Jones, which was written by the sister of one of the young boys killed in this tragic aviation accident when an ILS approach, inexplicably, went tragically wrong. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1961_Holtaheia_Vickers_Viking_crash In August 1961, Rosalind Jones was 15 year...

Vergenoegd Löw produce some fines wines and the ducks are very cute to behold. Well worth a visit if you are in that neck of the woods.
