Re: Skype
Apart from seeing a pretty picture of the other person, what does skype do that VOIP services don't do and with far easier set up ? SMS? The number of VOIP services offering SMS is VERY small. Unfortunately even Sipgate have dropped it. Skype still remains the only 'easy' way to send a text on my m...

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
An amazing post from someone who used to be 'level-headed' (in 'the other place') suggesting that many of those dead and injured 'deserved it' for being there, and then going on to say ' only 4 of the dead were actually driving on the A27' - I think it might be time for him to hang up his keyboard? ...

Re: BT Home Hub5 2.4/5Ghz connectivity (windows7)
UPDATE: Since I reset the system on 3 Oct the connection on 2.4 has remained 'solid'. It may well have been the turning off of the house mains on 2 Oct to work on sockets that caused the issue and I wonder if it was simply a failed 'come back to life' on the Hub that caused the problem. I had done a...

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
Absolutely, C16, 11 deaths and several serious injuries. Back to the Glasgow bin lorry, I'm afraid ex-A - do you think the police should not have been involved there?

Thought some of you, especially old Mixyture, might like this. A lot of effort has gone in here.
Hope it is big enough, as the Bishop said to the actress...............

Re: BT Home Hub5 2.4/5Ghz connectivity (windows7)
The ether is full of folk complaining about the 2.4 'dropping out' at random on H5 and the opinion seems to be that it is a firmware fault and (?surprisingly?) BT don't seem to care. Not helped by having the same SSID on both freqs. The friend is a lady who had a BT 'HomeMove' setup for Friday 28 Au...

Re: BT Home Hub5 2.4/5Ghz connectivity (windows7)
This is on '1'. I'll have to netstumble I think and see what is going on and get the hub replaced if it is faulty on 2.4.

Re: BT Home Hub5 2.4/5Ghz connectivity (windows7)
I think I would prefer to go the dongle route actually rather than re-card. Any comments on the Hub performance itself, though?

BT Home Hub5 2.4/5Ghz connectivity (windows7)
I've been helping a friend get set up with BT Broadband. She uses an Acer Aspire with a AR5B125 wifi card. It appears that this card in not .11a capable, and often she loses the Hub connection. When she does, other nearby networks are 'available' but not the Hub5 and my lappie will connect easliy to...

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
Latest statement from the Police Sussex Police have confirmed that the pilot of the Shoreham Airshow Hawker Hunter, Andy Hill, is still not fit for interview. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Rymarz who is leading the police investigation into the Shoreham Airshow crash, said: “The interview of the pi...

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
Ex-A - I think you have mis-understood. The 'comparison' is in the effect innocent deaths would have on someone, not the event itself.

Happy to contribute with ugly money. It shouldn't all be on you. - seconded, not only the 25 Squid a year, but domain costs as well as inevitable 'other' costs, looking probably at the £50+ mark depending on the number of domains. Costs will rise as the server will (hopefully!) need upgrading with ...

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
Ex-A - I did not read HC's post as in any way a 'pre-judgement', but merely a statement of fact, and, as it happens, my view too. An awful situation. How do you think you would react? I find myself also wondering what the state of mind of the Glasgow bin-lorry driver will be in the future. By the wa...
