Re: Friday Jokes
Dinner with wife as she prattles on endlessly.
She pauses (very briefly mind you), "This might be a sexist question, but when men sit together without talking, what are they thinking about?"
Me: "How nice and quiet it is."

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
Does it hurt? No pain or discomfort, just annoying kaleidoscopic patterns which start off quite small but eventually blot out your vision. Relaxing with eyes closed for 20 minutes or so is the only way I can get rid of them. As far as I am aware it's not indicative of any other medical problems but...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
Another bloody migraine today, none for months and then two in three days. I'm fortunate in that I only have optical migraines - I get all the visual, kaleidoscopic effects which render me almost blind but there is NO associated headache. A quick lie down and a 10 minute nap seems to sort it out. H...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
Interesting paper, Ricardo, but I still don't 'get' how they constructed complex compound curves to such accuracy and precision at such a height before the structure was self-supporting. Nowadays we have electric adding machines and lasers and stuff. In those days they 'only' had clever people and ...

How the hell did they design/construct that amazing roof/ceiling to such mathematical/metrological precision?

Re: Nissan Leaf.
I'd love to have my 1966 A35 van back, perfect for this little island. Simple to drive and simple to repair.

Reading Ex-Ascot's post makes me feel so angelic that I feel moved to post this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=16&v=c4aLmiB0uDo Caco Having been an organist & choirmaster for umpteen years there are few pieces that really touch my soul but this piece and the singers in particular al...

I was reading an instruction manual & it said I needed a screwdriver. So I got out the orange juice and vodka. Everything after that is a mystery

I did that railway trip back in 1992 when travelling from Brora, Sutherland to Scarborough, Yorkshire. Problem was it was dark when we went through Garsdale!Fox3WheresMyBanana wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 1:18 amAh, Settle to Garsdale via Ribblehead; done it many times. Beautiful!
