Re: 737 Runway Excursion in Senegal
That's an old bird, (30 years), so the usual 'Speedtape' solution won't work there. No doubt a few dollars will be made from flogging off the parts, though. (I'm assuming it isn't adequately insured). I see that it had a couple of incidents in the past, when it was in the colours of Tarom, so an unl...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
The cattle have been released from the barns where they've spent the winter. They were so excited at first but it is quite chilly and its been drizzling on and off all day and, just to make the picture complete, the haar has clamped down this evening. Yes, I noticed that 'your' flight had to head b...

Re: FedEX B763 No Nose Gear Landing in Istanbul
A FedEx 767 had to return to CDG shortly after t/o yesterday. No reports of the cause at the moment, but it was squawking 7700.

Re: Departed During 2024
I'm not normally a fan of the acting profession, but I was sad to learn of the death of Bernard Hill. He is probably best remembered for his part as Yosser Hughes, the laconic member of 'The Boys from the Blackstuff', a more realistic portrayal of a man driven to the edge of his sanity by the loss o...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Yes, one of the more recent Ukr attacks looked more like a distribution centre to me, rather than a refinery, but no matter, it still chokes the system. It always amazes me that so many of these people fall from balconies in tall buildings. Whenever I visited friends who lived in apartments, the blo...

ATHENS Ga.jpg[/attachment]t_id=390262 time=1714719344 user_id=182] In the '50s in Scotland you also had to be a "bona fide" traveller to be served a drink. Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
A couple of reasons are possible fot 9H-GLOBL's routings. Sector training for the pilots. Ie need X number of sectors to be released. That FL looks below RVSM. Numerous reasons for that. Dodgy autopilot, transponder not working properly, felt like it... :) I don't know, just guessing :) Thanks redd...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
I see that the first aircraft, 9H-GLOBL, for Global Airlines, much derided on TOP, is on its way to Europe. It seems to be following a rather odd route though. Mojave-Montreal-Prestwick-Beja-Malta. Surely it could do at least Mojave-Beja (HI-Fly's base in Portugal) non-stop? I notice also that it's ...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Had a BIG hailstorm at lunchtime, clouds bumping into each other, sparks flying and heavy hail. Driving El Toyota around I realised that Left rear was quite low pressure, found a wind machine which charged a euro, it's new, used to be a freebe. Thing is it only took cards. Shape of things coming I ...

Re: Rainmakers in Dubai
From the Royal Meteorological Society, article by Kirsty McCabe, FRMetS - Dubai floods and cloud seeding An interesting and level-headed article, which rather debunks the scaremongering headlines. Interesting to read that it had been forecast, too. Were it not for the fact that Dubai is full of Gen...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
I can't believe that only seven people have died in all that flooding - particularly in a region that is not well-prepared to deal with it. I very much doubt if the population was given much warning. I imagine some of the promised aid can be moved fairly quickly, but the remainder will have to be ma...

Sunday 5th May is Orthodox Easter, and I wonder if something big could happen prior to that.

So I read that as Israel either not having much to throw at Iran, or conserving what stocks they have, in case they need them. The munitions factories in NATO countries are going to be busy from next week! (I heard from someone who works in one of these places that they have been working flat out un...

Sturgeon doorstepped and explains what it's like at home at the moment. Awkward over the breakfast table maybe, discussing when the knock at the front door might be for her. Schadenfreude anyone, but maybe she can wriggle out of this one too? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13327887/Nicola...
