Quick sitrep: op went well, no pain, some bleeding this afternoon so just had a couple of stitches. More details later when I get my computer.
All the best, Hydromet, had been wondering how things were with you.
Take it easy.

^ the cows would enjoy their first taste of greens and the chance to kick their heels up a bit. They're outdoors all year round here, unless there are some very specialised enterprises of which I know little. This morning is clear and cold, was -0.8°C earlier but a breeze has sprung up with the sunr...

Re: New Zealand

What nonsense.
Those temperatures are standard winter minimum temps for those regions.
Mt Cook Airport is at 650 metres/2150'.

Our media is pathetic and over-excited, wants us to lurch from one crisis to another.

Lunch at Coffee Culture, Merivale, Christchurch: An Americano with cream, and a small hot chocolate, $11.20. The former served with what I guess were chocolate-covered coffee-beans, the latter served with a couple of marshmallows. A miniature Spinach & Feta loaf, sliced vertically lengthwise and ser...

Good morning, 3°C and was raining earlier, rain with a Significant Look about it.
Clearly there has been some misunderstanding, I want to go for my walk in a couple of hours, I'm not walking in that. [-X

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

I'm sure when I was at school it was "rooves" :-\ but that seems out of favour these days. Me too, but there's probably been a bit of drift there over time. Another example: when I was doing clever stuff back in the day, I remember registering patents (as in 'pay-tents') but everyone seems to speak...

Good morning, blue dome skies as far as I can see, calm, smoke from a chimney is in a horizontal layer about thirty feet up*; my thermometer has been down to -0.7°C but beginning to rise. Frost on house roofs, lawn, etc. I may have mentioned this before but I'm sure when I was at school it was "roov...

Good morning, rather a pretty line-up in the northeast at the moment, of Saturn, Mars, the old crescent Moon, and Mercury.
4°C now, expecting fog to arrive and then a clearance again later; up to 11.
