Does it not suit his purposes if they self-destruct rather than any help being provided?

Re: National and World Economies
Referring to Haldane's speech Provided the marginal propensity to consume of commodity-importers exceeds that of exporters, this would be expected to provide a fillip to world growth. Against that, two important features of the recent fall in commodity prices need to be weighed. First, recent moves ...

I wouldn't be surprised if my savings and investments lose 10% of their value over the next 2 to 3 years.
I concur. I shifted my investments to entirely secure deposits, earning over inflation, just last week.

Winning my first solo Air Combat Training flight 5-0. Navigating a racing yacht tacking just off a rocky beach at night in a gale. We won the race as a consequence. The pleasure was mostly in the other (extremely experienced) crew trusting me to do it. n.b. All the best sex has lasted longer than ha...

Re: Invasion of Europe
There is of course the risk of over-generalisation through lack of experience. For example, having worked a little in the Sandpit, I have discovered that the Egyptians and Jordanians are generally pretty decent types; whereas my opinion of Gulf Arabs, previously at rock bottom, has started blasting ...

Re: National and World Economies
A most interesting discussion; thank you! My experience in the UK a couple of years ago is that the black economy is now huge, especially with regard to employment, but that's a long way short of all needs. Barter, exchanging favours, etc is relatively easy either rurally, or where there are strong ...

GovCash also means the Government can track every transaction you ever make, including buying things off a neighbour. Furthermore, since this wouldn't be implemented worldwide, it just provides another means for the wealthy to avoid their responsibilities when the poor man can't. Data Safeguards are...

Re: National and World Economies
Thanks for the interesting analysis. The frog still ends up boiled, however. As a frog, I am not best pleased by this. A cashless society together with imposed interest rates effectively means the Government can tax me whatever it wants, when it wants. Use of inflation targets means it can probably ...

Had to get up at 2:30am, but TSN kindly repeated the entire Japan/SA game, complete with "They haven't a chance" analysis, - Fantastic!!! Eddie Jones is a genius, and the Japanese used all their strengths of bravery, work-rate and discipline.

Well, I must admit the EU Commissioners are taking a novel yet effective approach...There's no way Putin would want to invade a degenerate Caliphate full of lazy terrorists.

Very well done. It is the Chapel in Colditz Castle, wot I visited about 10 years ago. One of the escape tunnels started in the attic (very clever; who'd look for a tunnel entrance in an attic? - they broke into a walled off staircase which led them below ground, where they started digging the tunnel...

Canada started well, but got stuffed with 19 points and were worn down a lot also when the Captain got himself sin binned - fatal error for the whole team. Other than that I thought Canada did very well, and there is hope that they might yet squeak through. We'll see. I enjoyed the Georgia/Tonga game...

St John's also had Lady Margaret Beaufort as a Benefactor, hence the same arms, but the shape of the arch and the position of the rose are different.
