So in the event of a conflict would the RFA crews down tools and refuse to resupply the Royal Navy ships? Seems to me that like the military and Police this civilian outfit supporting the RN should not be permitted to take strike action..

Please consider signing this petition so we can reach a 100,000 total. It will then be presented to Government and will then be debated in the House of Commons. The petition is calling for an end to compensation being classed as income when considering benefits and pensions. The aim is to put pressu...

Re: Stiga ride on lawnmower
I have a Stiga snowblower and a Stiga Estate 384 ride-on mower which I think is around entry level. The former has performed faultlessly for 11 years until a drive belt needed replacing. The ride-on mower is only a couple of years old so no problems yet and performs well. It's a bit difficult gettin...

The very distinctive skyline of Lancing College north of Shoreham Airport gave away the location as being the latter - I worked at the airport for a few years. The sculpture is the memorial to those who perished as a result of the Hunter crash at an Air Day a few years ago.

It was 21.7C today at home some 20 miles SW of Aberdeen. That's what counts as a heatwave in these parts.

Thank goodness he was sussed out before taxpayers' money was wasted on him. With his complete lack of Oily Qs he would never have lasted the course at Dartmouth. Decided to have a go at joining the Sernior Service Oh, just the right kind of attitude - NOT! Surely they still have an Admiralty Intervi...

......and it's finally happened. Helicopter staff strike action over pay under way How times have changed - only 9 scheduled flights today from Aberdeen and only two have taken off, no doubt flown by management pilots. The remaining seven flights are all "Flight on Hold". In my time at Bristow we us...

Re: Airlines reliant on GPS
Having a Nav to shuffle the Decca rolls - luxury! In my early days on the North Sea we used Decca Mk8 and had to do the roll change ourselves with the cack handed inevitably tearing the roll. Then came Danac, and then for a short while our Company had Omega VLF which was all but useless. When GPS fi...

My Great Uncle Bert emigrated to Australia from the UK when he was 16 in 1907. He joined the Australian Army at the outbreak of war and fought at Gallipoli. He survived that and died in Winton, Queensland, in 1964.

The electric ‘shocks’ are Nerve Conduction Tests and are quite minor. I had them done about 15 years ago to confirm a Peripheral Neuropathy diagnosis on my feet. They also confirmed carpel tunnel which I wasn’t aware of then and still have no symptoms!

Re: FOD Plod Needed at Denver
1979. Senior BCAL people came down to the Ferranti Helicopters Shoreham base shortly after they bought the company. Familiarisation flights were provided to those who wanted them and I was detailed to take two of them on a short flight in a Bolkow 105. It turned out to be VERY short! The 105 had poo...

Re: Malaysian navy helicopters collide mid-air
Seven in one helicopter and three in another. Why seven? Surely for air displays you should only have minimum crew. This accident comes two days after two Japanese Navy anti-submarine helicopters crashed during a night exercise. The flight recorders were found close to one another so presumably anot...
