Re: It's lonely in here.......

Excellent avatar - hico-p! That gives me an idea to ask our Australian cartoonist friend if he minds if I scan the one he presented to me back at our grand get together in 2003 and make it into my avatar.

Now, how are we going to get some momentum going here!

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash

On BBC News just now they have named the 11th victim of the crash. They also say that Andy Hill is "critical but stable" at a specialist hospital.

Re: Any telecommunications experts on here?

Thanks for the replies - henry, yes it is set to 'Great Britain'. I have no idea about the base unit software state but the phone only came onto the UK market in March. I spent an hour on the BT chat line this morning and tried to get their technical people 'overseas' to answer the simple question &...

Re: Any telecommunications experts on here?

The problem seems to be that the Phonak phone requires CLIP and BT residential lines only support CLI - and the only CLIP reference on the BT website mentions business lines. It will be interesting what Phonak have to say today when I phone them - I think you are right in that the British spec has b...

Any telecommunications experts on here?

Mrs C16 has been very deaf in one ear for years and now has suddenly become profoundly deaf in her other ear. After medical and hearing tests she has been fitted with two Phonak Venture 'receiver in the ear' hearing aids - and whilst you almost need a second mortgage to pay for them they are absolut...

Re: Driving across the Kalahari - not aviation but fun

I wish it had been a ferry flight, that would have been fun. We took the rotors, rotor mast, tail boom and skids off and managed to get 10 helicopters in a DC-10 freighter. Then we rebuilt them on arrival in Salisbury - one pilot and one engineer to each airframe - and were operational within 24 hou...

Re: Friday Jokes

Someone sent me this - probably a variation on an old theme.... Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland's First Minister is touring Perthshire in the First Minister’s chauffeur driven car. Suddenly a cow jumps out into the road. They hit it full on and the car comes to a stop. Nicola in her usual jaunty manner, s...

I was doing the same kind of thing at that time in a civvy helicopter on a UK Government contract flying Election Supervisors into the guerilla camps. On one occasion we went into a camp near the...

Mine is a standard Windows 8 desktop - only because Dunnottar Castle is just 6 miles from where I live.

Queen of the skies - Australian version

Maybe Wessex was involved in this Australian four ship jolly and he can identify the location with his inaugaural post? :D
Pity about the accompanying music.

Charlie One Six We are gaining on the planks. BTW: I was able to drop the "A". Ah - the "A" and lack of it had confused me for a few minutes but it doesn't take much to confuse me nowadays. BTW you can now add your location to your profile - that facility has just been provided.

Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?

Decided to let the wallet take the strain - so Mrs C16 and I are recently back from a meal at The Ship Inn at Stonehaven harbour. Excellent fare - mine was Scallops with Chorizo followed by Venison Steak with Spiced Cherries and then a selection of Italian ice cream, topped off by a large new moon r...

Mrs C16 and I were with Direct Line on separate car insurance policies but with a multi-car discount. A throw and shoot follow me video drone. I wonder how fast it can go - would love to try it at a Track Day at Knockhill.

Re: Weird and weirder

Early one winter's evening we found one wandering around the garden in the snow - I thought they hibernated for winter? It was obviously poorly and SWMBO insisted I drive it to the nearest hedgehog sanctuary. That was a 104 mile round trip in the snow to Dundee and back, all for a hedgehog.
