Re: What DVD's have you watched lately
Simply the best TV series I have ever seen has to be Breaking Bad. Watched them all on DVD and often ended up being unable to go to bed because we desperately needed to find out what happened next! As for Game of Thrones? Lots of sex and violence so it's just like being at work for me. Gave up after...

I am excited
Step daughter just gone into labour. I will be a grandfather soon. A new phase of my life is beginning and I am looking forward to in enormously. Not sure Mrs Bull was too thrilled by my comment "will never again sleep with a woman who is not a grandmother".

Re: An openly gay US Army Secretary?
What's wrong with a gay pride parade? Why shouldn't gays, who have been persecuted, hated and even murdered because of their sexuality be allowed to demonstrate that they have no need to be ashamed of who they are?
And more congratulations to you Alison. You are among friends here!

Re: Stroke my Crow
OFSO, your fake crow will deter magpies for maybe 12 hours if you are lucky. Magpies are very clever and will soon realise that the object presents no threat to them. I speak from experience, my back deck is littered with plastic owls, hawks and snakes, but still the magpies wandered around with not...

Re: An openly gay US Army Secretary?
Who cares if he is gay? Not me. Can't understand why it would bother anyone at all.

Re: Wemo switches
And in further good news I have bought, and successfully installed, another wemo switch so that I can turn on the coffee maker without getting out of bed.

Re: Wemo switches
IT'S FIXED!!!! Thank you so much for your help. You have made me very happy, not only because the switches now work, but also because, with your help, I have learnt something. This is what I did. I downloaded WifiInfoView onto my laptop and discovered that my router was using channel 2 while another...

12 out of 12. Also had to think about the magnifying glass. I was surprised at the question which was most often answered incorrectly - the one about the boiling point of water.

Wemo switches
Desperately seeking help from people cleverer than my son and stepson. For some time now I have used wemo switches. One allows me to turn on my outside security lights on approach to the house and the other allows me to turn of Mrs Bull's electric blanket. Installation and operation were without any...

Re: Who uses a smart phone and connects to the net
I use my iPhone many many times a day. When I wake up in the morning I check my overnight messages. Before heading off to work I check for any traffic problems if I am driving or for the next bus if getting public transport. At work I use my laptop or my iPad. On the way home I check for the next bu...

Charlie, the photo was taken on the Faroe Islands earlier this year. Mrs Bull and I went to see the solar eclipse, but we mainly saw clouds. A spectacular place to visit.

So we are "ignorant" are we? At least we know when to use an apostrophe correctly! It's "day's pay".

Re: War in Australia - Australian Politics
As someone whose political views have generally been towards the left, I am surprised to find myself agreeing with Mr (not Justice) Heydon that he should not disqualify himself from continuing to sit as Commissioner. I am not saying that the commission was set up for entirely honourable motives, jus...

Absolutely every suggestion concerning how MH370 was lost that I have read is ridiculous. In those circumstances Sherlock Holmes says that it is the least improbable solution which is the most likely. I vote for the Captain's cunning plan theory as being the least improbable.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread 1
I've got a bloody awful cold (although as a man I prefer to categorise it as severe bronchial pneumonia coupled with all manner of influenza). First day off work because of illness since I started this job 13 years ago. The upside is that I can read lots and lots of my favourite new site!

Re: Scheduled Outages - Please note.
As one who never reads "scheduled outages" I was completely unprepared for what happened a few minutes ago. ppruned.org was gone! I immediately thought that Voldemort was responsible. Now I see it was all planned maintenance. That's a relief. Will read "scheduled outages" more of...
